In my opinion, you haven’t truly lived in Lancaster, PA until you’ve visited an Amish bakery. Okay, okay…. If you haven’t at least TRIED an Amish goodie, you are really missing out! My daughter – who was born and raised here – recently informed me that she had never had shoofly pie. We made it a mission to explore Amish Country and find the most delightful treats, which we could share with you!
Below is the list of Amish bakeries we’ve tried out, broken down by town.
LITITZ
Cake and Cup Bake Shoppe – 12 W. Newport Road, Lititz

- Adorable cakes and cookies that taste even better than they look. Also a great place to go for a cup of coffee with friends as they have an incredible espresso bar. If you’re sticking with the “Amish” theme, their take on whoopie pies is outstanding. They use Wilbur’s cocoa (our chocolate factory in Lititz)! How cool!?!
LEOLA
Achenbach’s Pastries, Inc – 375 E. Main St, Ephrata

- WOW!! Put this at the top of your list! This is the “home of the long john” and if you are a fellow donut lover, you will love this place as much as we do! It’s been a Lancaster staple for over 67 years…you know it has to be amazing then!
EPHRATA
Scratch Bakes – 3 West Main Street, Ephrata

- Your typical Hallmark-movie bakery. This is a must! The food goes beyond baked goods here. They offer an extensive menu of breakfast, lunch and snack items! But before you go, be sure to check out their list of specialty flavors which rotate weekly. We plan to go back for the Pumpkin Spice cupcakes. and BONUS: they recently opened up a downtown Lancaster location!
STRASBURG
Katie’s Kitchen – 200 Hartman Bridge Road, Strasburg

- Now THIS is where you go if you want an authentic Pennsylvania Dutch meal. Mmmmm! Great for breakfast and lunch, but make sure you save room for dessert! They offer an array of Amish desserts from pies, apple dumplings, and rolls, to milkshakes and sundaes. If you’re lucky you may even spot Horse and Buggies in the parking lot.

Yes, as far as we know they are. We don’t track them daily or anything, but we’ve visited most of them here lately. They’re fabulous!
