An Afternoon at the Polo Fields!

If you’re looking for a relaxing, fun activity to do on a Sunday afternoon this Fall, look no further than a polo match at Forney Fields in Rothsville, PA – minutes from downtown Lititz.

The Lancaster Polo League has polo matches every Sunday from June through mid-October. Check out their website for more information on their home match schedule.

The gates open at 1 pm and matches begin at 2:30pm. Children under 12 are free! Anyone above 12 is $5. Remember – this is weather permitting! Check the website for weather updates the day of.

Each match has a theme or benefits a special organization. For example, September 5th is accepting donations for our local SPCA. Later in the month, there will be a food truck offered! We know that October is breast cancer awareness month, and the first week of October is benefiting this important cause!

Here’s what you can expect:

Drive through the gates and park anywhere under the trees on the perimeter of the field. Grab some friends, blankets and chairs to sit on. Set up your tailgate and unpack your delicious spread to enjoy before and during this classic game.

Halfway through the game, you will be invited to “divot stomp”, which is an age-old polo tradition! This is when you stomp on the divots in the field, which helps preserve the field and enhances safety for the players (and horses). This is an activity that thrilled my kids when they were little! According to their website, even the Queen of England stomps divots when she attends a match!
