Hops for a Good Summer

Wolf and Webb Realtors like to provide our clients personalized experiences where we not only work to help you sell or buy your home but also provide you ideas, suggestions and tips for the process and your time after. One way we provide tips is through our suggestions of things to do or ways to get involved in Lancaster County. This week we want to share with you more about the Farm that brings us entertainment, great food, drinks and live music.

You heard that right, a farm that does all this! Kissel Valley Farm is one of a kind right in our backyard. Located at 645 East Oregon Road in Lititz you will find home to this wonderful farm. At the farm you will find a few things from 21 acres that provide the perfect sunset view, to a farmhouse from the 1800s giving you a taste of our rich history. You can also enjoy their vineyard. This is a partnership with Waltz Vineyards where they work to create delicious wines for Lancaster patrons and visitors to enjoy regularly. If you have not already be sure to check out our blog on wineries and vineyards within Lancaster County! While walking around the farm be sure to take in the breathtaking wildlife as they have created a 3 acre wildflower field not only for patrons to enjoy the beauty of the floral colors in bloom but to help rebuild and support the pollination within Lancaster County.

Are you curious about homes that are currently on the market, our website is a great spot to start your search!

While Kissel Valley Farm provides a variety of breathtaking views, incredible scenery, historic buildings and local partnerships it also works to provide the Lancaster community activities, events and enjoyment all year round. One thing they are known for is the Pop-Up Beer Gardens. In 2019 Kissel Valley Farm partnered with Wyndridge Farm Brewing for their pop-ups; they did it again in 2020…do you think there might be a pop-up partnership this year? One can hope!

The pop-ups were weekends long providing individuals opportunities to get to the event or even go a few times. Every Saturday and Sunday throughout the month of August and September you could go to Kissel Valley Farm for the free event. When on the farm you had the opportunity to taste and enjoy beers and ciders from Wyndridge as well as amazing food from local food trucks. These pop-ups were great ways to get together with friends, enjoy the outdoors, support the locals, and soak in the last weekends of summer.

If you got to the pop-ups at the right time you might be able to enjoy live music and entertainment from our Lancaster community as well as yard games. If you attended a pop-up beer garden you would see patrons sitting on beach chairs, towels and blankets. You would hear instruments, laughter, and gulps. These weekends were times that brought the Lancaster Community together full of joy and fun. This year the pop-up partnership is with Bulls Head Beer Garden, and…it already started! A video was recently posted about smoothing out the lawn for upcoming beer garden pop-ups with Bulls Head Public House throughout the weekends of May through October, more time to enjoy!

Admissions is five dollars and children 12 and under are free. There will be a rotating mobile beer tap, wine and cocktails too, providing a taste for everyone who attends!

If you are thinking about heading to the garden this weekend or maybe a couple times this summer be sure to bring your admissions fee, something to sit on because picnic tables are limited. Do not bring outside concessions but do support the local businesses, food trucks or catering of the weekend for delicious meals and snacks. Be sure to bring sunscreen as the summer months get closer. It will be getting warmer and stay hydrated with water and lotion to protect yourself!

What seems like a new yearly tradition is one to be sure to make note of, it is a great way to enjoy the beautiful scenery and time with your friends.

Finding local events in Lancaster is not hard, so many companies and businesses work to bring the community together through food, drinks, entertainment and more. This is one of the many reasons why Lancaster County is truly one of a kind! A space for all to enjoy, where everyone can find things to do, try new places and meet new people. Our County is full of Local Secrets making it a unique and special place to be a part of.

Have you heard of a local event happening in the summer of 2021? Let me know about it, I would love to check it out!

After treating your pup to a delicious treat or stocking up on some great food for them, maybe you want to take them to move around and get some exercise. The first park is located in Manheim Township though that does not mean you can just pull up with your favorite pup. Overlook Dog Park is located within the Manheim Township Recreation and Park at 1241 Lititz Pike within Lancaster County. You need to be a member to use this park with your dog and to do that you can register to receive access to the park. It is a great space for your dog to exercise, meeting other pets off the leash is allowed and a great way for you to meet some of your neighbors! The dog park started through a community effort to ensure safety and fun for our furry friends. The Manheim Township Dog Owners Group works with the park and recreation to manage the space help with registration and facility access. Being a member park this ensures that all the furry friends your pump meets are vaccinated and follow the policies. The park is also open in the winter so as the warm weather approaches and you are excited to get your pup out keep it in the back of your head that you can also enjoy this space bundled up too!

The second dog park in Lancaster County that is a must go is Beau’s Dream Dog Park within Buchanan Park. And let me tell you the name is truly perfect, this park is a dream, it is incredible! Realize your pup was not on their best behavior at the park? Or maybe you saw a dog so well trained you are questioning if you should teach your furry love some new tactics? Look no further than The Zen Dog Den. The business is run by certified dog trainer Cherisse Feddock plus two other fabulous behavioral trainers Stacey Samii and Kelcy Waller. Everyone works as a team to help families achieve peace and happiness with their dogs inside and outside the home. The dog trainer Cherisse has been working with four legged friends as a foster pet parent, walker, educator, and trainer while also promoting pet adoption. The team has years of experience and expertise to help you and your pup be the best they can be! Cherisse has also worked with trainers across the world such as Cesar Millan.

The approach of the Zen Dog Den is to not only train but train by focusing on behavioral, instinctual and primal approaches which is truly remarkable and creates a different experience for the dog as well as the owner long after they have completed the program. Owners learn to truly understand their four legged family and build on methods that can be practiced in multiple settings. Through the work of the trainers, you and your family will be forever grateful as you learn and adapt to understand and connect with your pup. There are multiple types of services and training you can request from refreshers to a brand new owner. All of the training is done in-home so it is personal and convenient for clients, not to mention that most of the unwanted behavior occurs in the home in the first place.

Something that is a crowd favorite is the Zen Dog Pack Walks at the Overlook Park. This is an opportunity for clients to practice what they learned in the program and see what kind of pup they have within a pack of other dogs and humans. The best part is that the Pack Walks are free of charge and do not require RSVP! The trainers are available during the walks to answer questions. If you are interested in learning more, request a session or contact the Zen Dog Den today. The work that Cherisse, Stacey, and Kelcy does is remarkable and I am sure you will be talking about it for years to come! In fact, the Zen Dog Den offers clients a lifetime of support for their beloved dogs and families. Even after training is over, clients may reach out by text, phone call, or email for any reason with no cost. Having a pup of my own that has worked with the Zen Dog Den, I have nothing but great things to say. Cherisse has incredible talent and has helped us learn about our puppy while also helping her build up and learn great training techniques.

New Year New Home Cheer

Happy New Year to all our Lancaster Locals! May this year bring you joy, happiness and exciting times! If you have been debating buying a new home or have been wanting to move for some time now but do not know where to start? Look no further, I have compiled a helpful chart of must do’s and tips for starting the moving process.

  1. Let’s make a plan– you are ready to list your house and move first things first is making a plan with your family.
  2. Find a realtor agent you mesh well with– it is important to find a realtor that you can relate to, one that knows the area better than anyone else

Before continuing through the moving list I want to be sure to touch on the benefits of using a realtor when you are looking to sell or buy a home. There are many ways you can benefit from hiring a realtor and specifically it is their expertise. Expertise in finances, area, location, community, regulations, rules and more. A realtor is a licensed professional that can help guide individuals purchase, sell or rent a property. They advise their clients on the market, give guidance on how to sell their house and assist in many other ways. If you have been considering using a realtor contact me today I would be happy to talk more about my role and how I can help you! Back to our moving list…

  1. Create a timeline– it is important to create a timeline and stick to it, especially if your house has sold and you need to move out by a certain date.
  2. Set up a moving budget– by setting a moving budget you will be sure to not waste money or spend money you were not expecting to spend.
  3. I suggest you check out our declutter blog-this blog will give you some ideas for going through everything in your home, moving can be daunting but with time and focus you can really make a dent in your project of going through your things. Make separations of what is going to the new house, what is garbage and what you will donate.
  4. Schedule-schedule times to go through your stuff, to pack, to move your things, and to donate your things. Setting up a schedule that sets aside days or times is key!
  5. Gather– start collecting supplies you will need to help you move. This can be boxes, string, tape, bubble wrap or newspapers. Knowing you will be or are planning moving you can start to collect materials or ask those you know to start saving their boxes. This is a great way to be sustainable and save time when it comes time to pack and you don’t have to worry about scrambling to get the materials.
  6. Stress less– look at and remind yourself of the bigger picture. Moving can be very stressful and daunting. It is a lot at once and at times can be a lot in a short amount of time. It is important to remind yourself of what the outcome is, your forever home! I suggest listening to music, or asking for your friends or family to come over and help pack while ordering take out! It is a great way to catch up, get some extra hands and enjoy each other’s company at times you’ll feel like it is more of a hang out and not stressing over the work.
  7. Change- Be sure you take time to change your address with all your subscriptions, bills, credit cards, jobs are aware & family is aware. Share your new address with everyone who needs it and make changes so you don’t miss bills. Take time to change your cable, wifi, license, doctors, school and phones to the new address too.
  8. Organize- Keep your boxes and bags organized during the move. It is important everything is labeled and you know where everything is going or who is taking what. You do not want to misplace any important medical documents or other personal and financial information that you need no matter where you live!

It is the day officially it is your moving day…what do you need to do?

  • Arrange for help if you have children, pets or need extra hands for the move
  • If you hired movers be sure you have cash to tip all those who helped
  • If you have friends and family helping be sure to place a takeout order to the new home so you all can eat after a hards day of work
  • Be sure to do a final clean of your old property
  • Get rid of all trash
  • Do one last walk through of the house (connect with your realtor of all last minute things you need to get done)
  • Set the thermostat to the correct temperature
  • Lower the shades or blinds
  • Lock all doors and windows
  • Leave a nice note or treat for the new homeowners 🙂

It is time to settle in, how do you get started?

  1. First and foremost do a first go around of cleaning and a walk through of the house (with any questions that could come up reach out to your realtor for advice)
  2. Unpack the essentials first all things that are necessary for the first few days of being in your new home
  3. Plan each room-walk through the house to see what each room will be for you. Where is the den or your dining room, who gets what bedroom?
  4. Go room by room starting with the kitchen first, setting up all your appliances and cupboards
  5. The second room or rooms to tackle are the bedrooms setting up your closets, your furniture and organizing your closets- each person should unpack their own room to truly make it their own space
  6. After the bedrooms are done the bathrooms should be the next room you start to unpack and fully stock with all necessities
  7. Do not feel pressured to rush-take time ordering new appliances or furniture should you need and enjoy the space you now get to be in every day. Take time to truly make it your space a place that meets your needs-an office, outdoor dining, cozy rooms whatever it may be!
