Have you ever been to the Four Seasons Golf Club in Landisville? While its a great place to hit the range and play a round of golf, it’s also a great place to go to check out their newest addition: Blue Collar Restaurant and Bar!
PC: lancasteronline
After a major renovation to a banquet room, Blue Collar opened its doors to the community less than one year ago, offering a delicious and eclectic menu that you need to give a try. The menu features anything from steak to salads to cheesesteaks and burgers and nachos. If you want to be transported to a tropical climate, try their poke and acai bowls! Or try one of their infamous spicy tuna sushi tots. How delicious does that sound?!?
PC: lancasteronline
Aside from the menu, the ambiance is another reason to visit Blue Collar. It offers 170 seats with gorgeous panoramic views of the golf course. You can pick from a seat at the U-shaped bar, a booth, or a table.
Speaking of their bar, look how gorgeous it turned out! They have several beers on tap – anything from nationally recognized names to local brews too.
PC: discoverLancaster
The inside is bright and overflowing with natural light. Imagine eating dinner there and overlooking the golf course when the sun starts to set later – what a way to wind down at the end of a day!
PC: lancasteronline
The idea of Blue Collar was created during March 2020 – a Covid opportunity. The two owners came together and found the perfect venue at the Four Seasons. They have plans to expand and open a cafe later this spring onsite. We highly recommend trying this hidden gem out – it has nothing but rave reviews and we know you will love it too.
We are now a full month into the New Year! How are your New Year’s Resolutions holding up? It’s no surprise that the #1 New Year’s resolution is to eat a better diet.
This is a goal my family and I are trying to incorporate more of…but you know what? Some days you are just craving a delicious donut! Trying to eat a healthier diet means that we make sure our “cheat” days count. That means if we are going to eat a donut, we won’t just grab a box from the grocery store or the Dunkin drive thru – we will go directly to the best donuts in Lancaster… Beiler’s Doughnuts!
PC: Beiler’s Doughnuts
Beiler’s Doughnuts began over 30 years ago at their first location at Reading Terminal Market in Philly. They brought the deliciousness of Amish baking all the way from Lancaster to Philadelphia. Over the past 30 years, the company has grown such a following that they were able to expand to additional locations in Philly, as well as Lancaster. The Lancaster location is at 398 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA – by Lancaster Barnstormers Stadium. You can also order them on Grubhub, Caviar, and UberEats.
PC: Beiler’s Doughnuts
The instant you walk through the doors, I promise your mouth will start watering! The smell is sweet, and the cases are filled with a huge assortment of fresh donuts. Their donuts are made fresh daily, using a generations-old family recipe that is responsible for making them the best donuts in PA (at least we think so…and I bet you will too)!
PC: Frugal Lancaster
You can pick from over 40 flavors of donuts…they offer the classics but also unique combinations, like the Dutch Crumb and Key Lime donuts. If you can’t decide, we suggest the Maple Bacon, Apple Fritters, and the traditional Creme Filled Powdered. They are the perfect combination of fluffy, sweet and creamy. Check out their menu here.
PC: Beiler’s Doughnuts
Whether it’s your cheat day or not, go ahead and try Beiler’s Doughnuts…I dare you to just get one!

Central Market is undoubtedly a gem of Lancaster. And now…it’s “sister” market is opening down the street – Southern Market! The grand opening is January 27, 2022. You won’t want to miss it!!
Originally a 19th century landmark, the Southern Market has been transformed into a multicultural food market and community hub. Located at the corner of Queen and Vine Street, Southern Market is taking downtown Lancaster by storm! It is expected to become one of Lancaster’s most popular food destinations for anything from local food to international fare. It is one of two projects that Willow Valley Communities is spearheading in downtown Lancaster.
What makes Southern Market differ from other markets is that it has a large, designated seating area. This is the perfect place to grab lunch with a friend or coworker while downtown, or stop, sit, and sip a coffee while reading our blog (!).
The idea behind Southern Market is to give young food businesses a strong start and introduction to the community. They will each have a stand, where they will be headquartered for 16-20 months, and then they will move on to hopefully own their own storefront or catering business.
The list of talented and diverse restaurateurs includes:
4 E’s Latin Cuisine – this offers rich, vibrant flavors of the Dominican Republic
Made by Lolo – delicious mini meals and creative tapas
Salad on a stick!!
Savoy Truffle Cakes – decadent desserts and special treats
Butter and Bean – coffee, espressos, and yummy pastries
Me and the sweet owner, Jessie Tuno
Flavors of Morocco – authentic Moroccan cuisine with an Indian flair
Pho Life – variety of Vietnamese meals
X Marks the Spot – Southern soul food with a modern twist
Laylai el Shem – Middle Eastern food with deep, vivid flavors
In addition to these impressive stands will be Pizzeria 211 and Bar 1888. These two will have a permanent location within the Market.
Along with the multicultural food offerings, Southern Market also includes offices, meeting rooms, and public spaces for the community. Need a break from working at home? You can rent out a room and work from Southern Market!
Hours:
Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday 12 noon – 9 PM
Friday, Saturday 12 noon – 10 PM
*it is expected that hours of operation will increase.
We cannot wait to support Southern Market and see how it brings life back to a historical building, and energy to the city.

The temps are dropping – winter is officially in full swing! Winter is a great time to hibernate and stay inside by a cozy fire. Here is a fun list of local activities that make facing the cold winter worth it!
Iron Valley Tubing
PC: Groupon
This is a golf course in the summer, and snow tubing in the winter. The tracks are over 900 feet long and so much fun! Even my grown children make an effort to go each winter. It’s open Thursday-Sunday and tickets are available to purchase online.
Fire and Ice Fest
PC: Phyllodelphia
A winter must is the Lititz Fire and Ice Festival. It is a free event, and this year it will run from February 18-27. The first Friday night of the festival is marked with a live ice carving demonstration, and throughout the entire fest you can find about 75 ice sculptures around downtown Lititz. Enjoy the live music, too!!
Snow geese migration
PC: Lancaster Online
WOW – we just discovered how magical this is a few years ago! Between late February to early March, the lake at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area will fill up with 50,000 to 70,000 beautiful snow geese and tundra swans. The birds surround the 400-acre lake and rest during their migration back north. But hurry, because they only come for that specific week! While at Middle Creek, you can also take advantage of the beautiful walking trails – the best part is that since it’s winter, you’ll find fewer bugs and no crowds!

If you have spent any amount of time in Lancaster, I’m sure you have heard about the New Year’s Day tradition of eating pork and sauerkraut. Most of the country eats black-eyed peas for good luck. When I moved here from New Jersey after getting married, I was a little puzzled about this tradition, but it’s one I’ve grown accustomed to and now love to feast on every January 1st. It stems from a German tradition which states that this meal brings good luck in the upcoming year … and hey, I will take anything that brings good luck!
Whether you will be spending your New Year’s Eve outside or huddled at home, here is a list of fun Lancaster County events and traditions that you might want to partake in!

Like many others, one of our family favorite traditions is driving around and admiring Christmas lights! We put on Christmas pajamas, heat up our hot cocoa, and jump in the car (which needs to be blaring Christmas carols) and drive around the area in search of the biggest and brightest light display. Sometimes we will pay to drive through professionally done displays, but honestly, we love driving through different neighborhoods and seeing their Christmas lights too!
PC: Discover Lancaster
Neighborhood Displays
Over the years we have discovered countless amazing light displays. But the hard part can be trying to remember where all those amazing displays were from years prior!

Insider tip: Head over to 6429 Fairfax Circle, East Petersburg for the most unforgettable – and bright – display! This is a great place to start!
Christmas Spirit Light Show
Returning to Clipper Magazine Stadium in downtown Lancaster is the Christmas Spirit Light Show – you won’t want to miss this stop. Not only will the lights fascinate you, but also you can enjoy the show from the comfort (and warmth) of your own car! Driving through the mile-long track, you’ll be surrounded by thousands of flashing colored lights. One of the best parts? They’re in sync with everyone’s favorite Christmas songs! Just tune into their radio station and get ready to be amazed.

Christmas Light Drive-Thru
Taking place at Stone Gables Estate, this 3-mile drive-thru includes a display of over 600,000 LED lights. The experience also features new storyboards, such as the 12 Days of Christmas and three new light displays with a light motion train, wreaths, 18-foot trees and more. There’s plenty of other activities as well, such as the Harrisburg, Lincoln & Lancaster Railroad steam train decorated for the holidays and the Star Barn Village, Herr’s Mill Covered Bridge, and other structures covered in lights.

Whether you live in the area or not, Strasburg, PA is an adorable, quaint spot for a day trip. It’s a picturesque little town with tons to eat and do, but today’s post is centered around what we’d consider the perfect afternoon here.
Breakfast, followed by a show, anyone???
PC: MY JOURNEY BY DORIS HIGH
Start your day early by getting to Agape Café, located nearby in Ronks. It’s the most delicious, Instagrammable café in the area. Be prepared to wait! But this wait is worth it for some of the best brunch foods around… Pancake boards! Brown sugar bacon?!? When I went a couple weeks ago, I split the five egg omelet with a friend and loved it. We cannot recommend Agape enough!!!
PC: AGAPE FACEBOOK
LANCASTER LOCAL SECRETS TIP: CALL AHEAD! I live about 40 minutes away from Agape, and luckily my friend called and put our name on the list before we left our houses. By the time we drove there and parked, they were ready for us. I highly recommend calling ahead on Saturdays, which is when we went. *note that they are closed Sundays and Tuesdays.
PC: LANCASTER ONLINE
After you indulge in a memorable breakfast, drive a couple minutes down the road to the second portion of the day: seeing a show at Sight and Sound Theater.
PC: LANCASTERPA.COM
WOW. These shows honestly rival Broadway! And isn’t the outside just gorgeous.
I’ve taken my family here from the time my children were babies. Just when I think the shows can’t get better, the next one tops it. They are bible stories brought to life, with huge casts of talented actors, live animals (birds, camels, etc) and unreal stages/sets. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing most shows they’ve done over the years, most recently Queen Esther. It’s still playing now – hurry, get tickets before the show ends!!!
PC: LANCASTER ONLINE
LANCASTER LOCAL SECRETS TIP: you can’t go to a S&S show without getting their amazing roasted nuts. Have you had the nuts sold on the streets of NYC? They are like that, but better!
PC: HORST CONSTRUCTION
And another reason to love Sight and Sound Theater… Wolf & Webb’s very own Derek Webb’s wife is an actress here! Go Gretchen!!!
PC: BIRD IN HAND
Be sure to add these to your list of things to do in the area! We have no doubt you’ll plan another visit to go back and do all the other fun activities Strasburg has to offer.
