Conestoga House and Gardens has a rich history dating back to the early 1700s, when it was part of a large land grant from William Penn. The current house was built in 1925 by James Hale Steinman, a prominent newspaper publisher and philanthropist. He and his wife Louise Tinsley Steinman transformed the property into a horticultural paradise, with the help of renowned landscape architect Thomas W. Sears.
